random

while i tried to catch up on some little quilties this afternoon, eme was drawing cakes that she wants me to bake. cate was drawing circles, polka dots, mimi + pops, and whales + snails (with my pincushions as models), mostly in marker and sometimes in 'invisible marker' (she never would let me snap a photo of hers).

cake making :: 18/365

i really am enjoying this 365 project.

the afternoon basically went to hell in a handbasket.
i had my grouchypants on while i spent half an hour typing out a catalog of the ways in which the afternoon did indeed spiral down.
and i just deleted it.

and i feel better, because i am looking at this photo of em, day 18 of 365, and how could i *not* feel better?

so, here goes the rest of the random:

yoda
tiny embroidery hoops
bat diving at night - islands -dove*
red & white mushroom
stamp elephant
forest party
little red riding hood song
sherbert pips fabric moda
pics of snapdragon stem
cake bites
may the force be with you
elephant stamps
bias tape tote tutorial
mushroom candy
hello cate
fa la la la felt
gnome party hats and
chocolate toffee butter icing
gingerbread
長頸鹿 (which i gather means 'giraffe'. i hope.)
gajah dan jerapah (again with the elephants and giraffes)
gnome party favors
print gocco
m collage
petting zoo
the smocket

these are the phrases that came up in my flickr stats for today, january 8, 2011.
interesting.
absolute randomness.

as if i don't have other things to be doing at 11 o'clock at night.

actually, i am happy that i was reminded of the yoda drawings. i may need to pull out the gocco and print up some valentine's day cards with that one. i *love* those yodas that lily and eme made back in 2009!

yodas...from 2009

i love the fact that i took photos of them before we gave them away.
i love the fact that our children's drawings can remind me to step back, take a deep breath (or thirty-five), and be a kinder, more patient momma ("use the force" and all that jazz).

random, i know, but thank goodness for random some days.

*i am quite puzzled by this one. i mean, how do you decide that you just have to find information on bats diving at night in the islands with a dove (or do you think that refers to the past tense of 'dive'?)?

  1. Yes, taking 35 deep breaths is always a good thing, but I don't seem to have the force with me quite as often as I'd like as a mother. Thanks for the reminder of how important the tiny things are though. "Dove" is also Italian for "where" so perhaps it was a query from someone in that part of the world.

  2. Deep breaths do help me as well as a change of scenery. Today has so much potential I can hardly wait. I hope to accomplish a bit of crafting. Yesterday was a good day, but no creativity aside from the kitchen. Today I own :)

  3. I had to take a deep breath yesterday too. We packed up and went out to lunch and then to the park for the afternoon.

I love your list of random. And I need to pull out my gocco too.

thank you ever so much for taking the time to say hello, ask a question, or leave a comment! often i'll leave a response here, in the comment section. if none of the three kiddos are pulling on my arm, i may even get to send you an email. xxx
