i've never really shared 'my studio' before.

my studio...this is where i go to get away from it all; this is where the magic happens.

happy place :: 20/365

and by 'my studio', i mean the kitchen.

and when i say 'get away from it all' i essentially mean the children (and really, i don't get very far as they are just steps away...in fact, i hear them now...truth be told, one is gabbing in my ear. soooo hard to type with someone whining about wanting candy -halloween candy, at that!)

so, back to the 'magic', and that would be sewing.

the end.

where do you 'make magic'? i'd love to see!

a few notes to append:
1. i adore my children, of course!
2. i do crave time to myself, of course!
3. i do like to 'make magic' in the midst of it all and would not want a more secluded place (i just wish that i had a way to shelve all the mess of fabrics...in the kitchen...but, at least it's pretty to look at).
4. i LOVE my doll quilt from aneela (she could not have made a more perfect quilt for me...seriously...go here and read a bit about it. i think that she included every single thing i said that i loved. it still amazes me daily)!
5. i LOVE the hank holland painting (a gift from mom+dad for christmas). i brush my fingertips across it every time i walk by...it's a little bit magical, i think.
6. i am so lucky to use (have?!) my mom's bernina 1130! it's 24 years old, weighs almost as much as cate, and is *awesome*.
7. a walking footis a gift from the gods.
8. you, too, can make that sweet little whale! he'll be in an up-coming book (from lark, who else?!) full of felt-y goodness coming to a bookstore near you.
9. i love the yellow walls of my studio, i mean, i love the yellow walls in our kitchen. thank goodness i listened to wade and chose the 'other' yellow.
10. the 'magic' isn't only just the sewing. the magic is everything...the simple, the mundane, the extraordinary, the good, the bad, and yes, even the ugly. really, isn't it all magical, this 'one wild and precious life' ?

even though i have a dedicated sewing space, it's right off the playroom (really, it's a walk-in closet) so i'm always near the action. sometimes i even haul the stuff down to the family room so i can really be in the thick of it. i don't like to miss what's going on! if i had space to sew in the kitchen, i probably would.

I am just catching up after this wild ride I have been on this month, and your girls are always dressed so freaking cute. Do tell if you have some super secret cute girly clothes source. :-)

I'm happy to say I have a studio, a room dedicated to me, but I often carry projects down to the kitchen. I'm in the process of a cleaning (why must it get so much worse before it gets better??!) so if you want to see a tiny (to better hide it) Before pic, it's on my blog. I'm hoping to get an After pic up by the end of the month. GULP! LOVE your yellow walls, very cheerful.

erin, you probably would! but can i still think "lucky you!" to have a dedicated space??

sarah, first off...sammi is *gorgeous*. as for the secret cute girly clothes source, it is simply this...hand-me-downs! most of what cate wears was worn by both lily and eme, and most of those clothes are carter's and oshkosh with a bit of children's place and gymboree, too (we have an outlet 10 minutes away). i like basic and relatively plain but with a liberal application of stripes and polka dots! i have made quite a few *simple* dresses and skirts, and i can't help but put them into "prettyme" (my friend angie's label on etsy). :)

jamie, (hi!) i'm off to see your space (and dreading the inevitable explosion here when i begin to 'organize'!)...i love our yellow walls, too! i think that i will always have a yellow kitchen. :)
