i make the rules

this blog is my creation, right? so why do i sometimes feel like i *have* to do this or that or feel guilty when i've only posted 7 times in the past 127 days?

silliness, i suppose.

when i first started this blog, i was pregnant with cate, eme was soon-to-be 3 and lily, soon-to-be 5. i had been following some really amazing blogs, kept by some ladies who are truly made of awesome.

i was inspired.

most had a couple of small children crawling + running around the house, and i was in awe of how they found time to write about it and share photos of the lovely things they were magically creating.

i was inspired.

and i still am.

still life, at night
"mommy vases" made by me (under the instruction of the wonderfully rock star-ish, alex williams, of potsalot in new orleans) way back before i was a momma

and i know that the magical creating is often a lot of smoke + mirrors (for me, surely).

and that is totally okay.

if you would have seen cate yesterday, after she had basically made a meal of a bright turquoise marker (washable, of course, because, according to eme, that is how we roll), you would know exactly what i mean.

there may be some sleight of hand around here as posts from the past pop up from time to time. i have so many unfinished posts with goings-on and projects that are waiting to be added.
i really want to print up these almost-two years of my blog into books (has anyone used blurb? any other suggestions?). so, since i make the rules, i'll be playing catch-up around here for a bit.
i have no delusions of grandeur that hundreds of people read what i write, but for the 6 or 7 of you who do come by to see what we are up to, i wanted you to know that all is well.

and that i suck at time-management. but you already knew that.

  2. I know how life is filled to capacity. How can we possibly think we can blog too? But we do when we can. Keep in touch as best you can. We love hearing from you.

  7. I love Blurb. I'm using it right now to make a book for my husband's siblings. I highly recommend you leave the trim lines on though. I forgot when I was making Christmas presents and have a bunch of chopped off words in my books.
I almost never notice when people stop blogging until they start again and then it's a happy surprise. Like an old friend returning. That's probably because I read everything in a reader, so I'm not checking blogs daily.

  11. Great post!!

You are indeed the one who decides the life on your blog, and if you didn't I wouldn't be here.

I don't need numerous posts to be inspired by you - you manage to inspire me anyway....as a mom, as an artist and as a human being.

I love the fact that you let the most important things in life be in control - your children and their well being. That deserves all the respect in the world...

When you do share your words, works and pictures it is wonderful, that I must say.

So, I will be here no matter how many - or few - posts you write. It is all about the quality not the quantity...

    Take care. :))

  13. Here is a big smile from me )
I love to check in and see what you are doing... but I always know that you are doing more. (you have 3 kidlets, you know) That third one eats up the time that was left over to blog (At least at my house, this is the case.) But a beautiful daughter is way more special than more blog posts! Keep up the good work!!
